Happy Best Day of the Week!!

After arriving home on Friday night after a tremendously challenging and productive week at a client site, our family had a great weekend together. Finn had a soccer game, Pax had a football game, Sarah and I had a wedding, and we enjoyed Bears, Chiefs, and Fever games together. From end to end, it was a fantastic weekend. Today, though, is THE day! Happy Monday!

I always wake up on Mondays with a little extra pep in my step. For most people in America, Monday is the day when we get up, head out, and do the work we're blessed to do. All work is a blessing.....if we let it. Monday is the day when we have the opportunity to impact people through our hands and feet. All work can be impactful.....if we let it. Monday is the day when we put our experience, influence, creativity, and talents into practice. That's a beautiful thing.....if we let it.

In a society where 7 out of 10 working adults dislike or hate their jobs, there's a very real chance that the last paragraph made several people want to vomit in disgust. If that's you, here's my message: It doesn't have to be that way. Monday doesn't have to be the day you dread most. Those Sunday Scaries don't have to sneak up on you every week. Work doesn't have to feel like a necessary evil.

This isn't me saying that every single person should quit their job and do something different. For some, yeah, you totally should. However, for many, it's less about that and more about finding value in the work you're already doing. Just knowing our work matters means something. Knowing that you're making a positive impact on this world can move the needle. Understanding that work serves a purpose beyond trading our time for money can transform our relationship with work.

One way or another, we need to wake up on Mondays and feel excited for what's about to happen. Whether that means finding joy in your current work or finding different work, that's a feeling you deserve to pursue. And I wholeheartedly recommend you pursue that with reckless abandon; you deserve it.
