Injury Timeout
My apologies to the daily readers who expected an e-mail in their inbox at 6AM this morning. I had some fun topic ideas for today, but last night didn't go as expected. Our family was in the midst of a ridiculously fun experience (concert and fireworks on the lake) when I suffered a freak accident. I sustained a scary (but hopefully not serious) head injury. Fortunately, it was toward the end of the night. Unfortunately, everything after that is a blur. Needless to say, I simply didn't have the capacity to formulate my thoughts and produce an article.
Every experience in life is worthy of learning, though, right? Every interaction, circumstance, and experience is potential content for learning, growth, and, of course, writing. So, what does any of this have to do with anything?
I think life is just so dang delicate. One minute we can be having the most beautiful time with our loved ones, and the next, we're in the midst of a scary situation. Just like that. A snap of the fingers. One second fine, the next, anything but fine.
This will resonate with many, as our lives are filled with these moments where everything changes. A diagnosis. A text message. A boom. A dreaded phone call. News we never saw coming. We're in the midst of a normal, mundane day, then mere seconds later, we're living a nightmare.
That's what came to mind as I've been trying to rally from last night's scary accident. Don't take anything for granted. Be grateful for all of it. Embrace the moment. It's all special, and it's all fragile.
See you tomorrow with some new ideas! I have a lot of fun stuff in store.
